Hike – Shenandoah in the Rain: Stony Man Trail

Road Trip – Day 23

We drove from Baltimore, MD, to Blacksburg, VA, today.  It was a 5hr drive, but we took the scenic route, hoping to see the beautiful views from Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park.  The weather did not cooperate.  It was raining and the whole park was shrouded in thick cloud and fog.  So the kids did not get to be impressed by the rolling hills. We got our National Parks Passports stamped and had a short rain hike on Stony Man Trail.  It added 2 hours of driving to our trip with no view.  It was a real bummer.

Its hard to say no when Skye says Hold Me.

How?Why?

Berk’s Bug-stache

Berk found a “fairy stair” rock.

Puddles galore.

Ferns are taking over.

Bubbles in the rain.

Bubble chasing.

This is the best view the whole 3 hours we were there.  My kids are not impressed.  Bummer.
