Cooperative Learning

I have been nuts since last February when I agreed to direct my local homeschool organization’s cooperative program.  I have organized informal groups before – for weekly hikes or monthly music groups.  This is different. ENRICHri is a non-profit state organization that has 300+ member families.  Running a new cooperative for them has been daunting and exciting.  ENRICHri Cooperative runs in a gorgeous empty Catholic School that we are renting one day a week.   All the planning and headaches have been worth it.  My kids are having a great cooperative experience.

Class they are taking :

Berkeley: Dr. Seuss Storytime, Early Literature and Art, and Music & Movement

Katahdin: Kinder Fun, Beginning Spanish, Project Wild, and Messy Arts.

Playing in the gym a half hour before and after co-op is a big treat, as well as lunch in the cafeteria with all there friends for 35 minutes.  They have met new friends and have had great first classroom experiences.  We love thursdays. Here are some pictures of us on the 5th week of Co-op.  As you can imagine, I was way too preoccupied to get cute first day of pictures.

Here is an essay I wrote for the ENRICHri newsletter for September.
