All Jazzed Up

Katahdin picked out this “jazz hat” at the consignment sale this weekend. When it came time for trumpet practice this afternoon, he was no where to be found. Soon he came down from his room dressed in a new outfit. He had on a button up plaid collar shirt, his best gray corduroys with belt, his favorite argyle sweater on top and the jazz hat.

” I wanted to get fancy for practice today,” he said. Then he proceeded to set up his stand, case and books and asked to be left alone.

He practiced well. He played all his songs, and added in his version of Flight of the Bumblebee, which involves blowing as tight and high as he can while flubbing his fingers frantically. Sounds surprisingly good, despite the shot in the dark technique.

Why the pirate ship?  That is the toy he picked out at the consignment sale.  He is in love with it. Jazz and pirates, thats who he is these days.
